Malala urges help for abducted Nigerian girls

Pakistani rights activist visits Nigeria to draw attention to over 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by armed group Boko Haram.

Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani education activist, is visiting Nigeria to draw attention to the more than 200 schoolgirls still being held by the armed group Boko Haram who kidnapped them in April.

The teenager, who became prominent after surviving a Taliban assasination attempt in 2012, dedicated this year’s celebration of “Malala Day”, an event that marks the right to education, to the kidnapped girls.

She is also making the case for the 10.5 million Nigerian children who have no access to basic education.
